Mr. Cummiskey’s practice is a blend of general counsel and litigation work for corporations, non-profits, small businesses, and a wide array of individual and institutional clients.  

In Mr. Cummiskey’s role as general counsel for businesses he routinely negotiates and drafts agreements (employment, corporate governance, entity formation, purchase, sale, and restructuring) and advises boards of directors and senior management on issues of statutory change, regulatory compliance, and employment concerns (hiring, retention, termination, and discrimination claims). Mr. Cummiskey also has a particular emphasis in working with non-profits, including advisement on issues of formation, financial management, grants, dissolution, real estate transactions, wind down, finance, and potential liability implications related thereto.  

Mr. Cummiskey also advises on all aspects of risk management and client litigation (internal and third party), reviews litigation strategies for ongoing legal disputes, and liaises with corporate counsel regarding case specific information and strategies. Mr. Cummiskey has also personally defended and managed numerous litigated cases across a wide spectrum, including disputes related to corporate formation, partnerships, real estate, contracts, personal injury, wrongful termination, discrimination, and general liability.  

Mr. Cummiskey served in the U.S. ARMY, out of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, achieving the rank of Sergeant.  Mr. Cummiskey attended Syracuse University School of Law, eventually clerking for the Honorable Norman H. Mordue, of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York.  Mr. Cummiskey has traveled extensively, and these life experiences have proven invaluable in his practice today.
